Lead Found in Water Supply of Durham, NC

DURHAM, NC — In the wake of a recent child lead-poisoning case, testing by local health officials has revealed that lead contamination is affecting about 30 to 40 percent of the apartments in Durham's Penrith townhouse complex, according to a News 14 Carolina report.
 
According to the report, there is an even higher percentage of contamination in the surrounding neighborhood; in the past, Durham has been viewed as a high-quality "poster child" for public water systems and officials insist the problem is not the city water
