Toxic Mold Removal Often Not Covered by Insurance

Homeowners need to be aware of the dangers of toxic mold, both to their health and their wallets.  
 
Many insurance companies do not cover mold removal in their standard homeowner policies; it must be purchased separately. 
 
Mold develops when moisture accumulates; that may happen for a variety of reasons including roof leaks, drainage problems, plumbing problems or weather issues. 
 
Toxic mold is "toxic", that is, poisonous, and can cause many health problems and make existing health problems worse; these include breathing difficulties, skin rashes, asthma and allergies.


Insurance will not pay for mold woes

Most homeowner insurance policies now exclude or limit coverage for damage caused by mold and fungus unless you purchased a specific mold/fungus endorsement at extra cost
