Halifax Building May Be Asbestos Hazard

Testing of building components in a senior citizens residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has revealed the presence of asbestos. 
 
Officials say the asbestos is not dangerous if undisturbed, but residents fear it is present in dust that falls from stucco ceilings.  
 
The building was inspected along with others because asbestos was recently discovered in homes in another part of the Province.  
 
The ceilings and dust in the units will be checked.

HALIFAX - Residents of a Halifax senior citizens' complex are unimpressed by claims that the asbestos in their apartments isn't a health threat.
 
"We are certainly concerned for our health," said Dorothy Shannon, a 78-year-old resident of Joseph Howe Manor in the city's south end. "It makes me fearful.
