No Class Action for Ohio Smokers' Lawsuit

The Ohio Supreme Court has denied class action status to a lawsuit brought by two Ohio smokers against Philip Morris.

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio Supreme Court says two Ohio smokers cannot bring a class-action lawsuit against Richmond-based Philip Morris over the marketing for its so-called "light" cigarettes.
 
In a four-to-three ruling, the high court has thrown out a lower court's decision that manufacturers and other Ohio businesses saw as a potential threat, because of
