Singapore Eye Infection Outbreak May Have Multiple Causes

Researchers in Singapore suspect that the outbreak there of the eye infection fusarium keratitis was not solely caused by a defect in Baush & Lomb's contact lens cleaner, ReNu with MoistureLoc. 
 
When the outbreak began, in March 2005, a third of those affected had not used that product, but more than 80% had failed to use proper contact lens hygiene. 
 
Doctors are urged to be on the lookout for more cases, and contact lens wearers are urged to use good hygiene and discard any ReNu they may still have.
