Court may say Mon. if will rehear Philip Morris case
The court reversed a $10.1 billion verdict against Philip Morris U.S.A. in December, ordering a lower court to dismiss the case. In the case, known as Price v. Philip Morris, the cigarette company was accused of defrauding customers into thinking "light" cigarettes were safer than regular ones.
The case is on the court's rehearing docket and the court is set to comment on rehearings on March 27. However, there is no set time and there is only a chance that the Price case will be heard, a representative in the clerk's office of the court in Springfield, Illinois, said on Friday.
