Light Cigarette Case May Go to Supreme Court

Arkansas 'light' cigarette case may be headed for high court

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court has signaled interest in a lawsuit over "light" cigarettes sold by Altria Group Inc.'s Philip Morris unit, seeking advice from the Bush administration on an appeal by two Arkansas smokers.
 
The smokers want the Arkansas state court system to decide their class-action against the world's largest cigarette-maker. They asked the justices to review a lower court decision that let the company shift the case to federal court, where corporate defendants often fare better
