State of NJ Sues Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines

At a glance:

The State of New Jersey is suing Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines after it changed the destination of a cruise from Bermuda to Atlantic Canada because of stormy weather, and refused to refund passengers if they elected not to go. They also allegedly refused to refund the difference in cost of a cruise to Canada compared to Bermuda except for port fees and taxes.

The suit further alleges the cruise line did not make an effort to contact passengers before the ship was to leave apart from putting a notice on their web site.

Restitution and civil penalties are requested.
