Farm Insurance Program Inadequate - North Dakota Governor

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven wants crop insurance legislation to become part of the next six-year farm bill, with changes designed to improve compensation to farmers affected by weather disasters.

Hoeven asks Congress to improve crop insurance programs

WASHINGTON - North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven asked members of Congress on Wednesday to improve federal crop insurance, which he said has not sufficiently compensated some farmers from weather disasters.
 
Hoeven asked members of a House Agriculture subcommittee to consider crop insurance changes as part of the next six-year farm bill, which is due next year. Crop insurance legislation has been considered separately in past years
