Medtronic Adopts Doctors' Society Guidelines

Medtronic, a medical device maker, has outlined improvements it is implementing to adhere to the guidelines recently recommended by the Heart Rhythm Society: 
 
It is expanding its panels that study performance trends and quality control; it is creating a patient advisory panel to improve communication with patients; it will work to pool data from the entire industry on device performance; and will work to improve rate of device return from hospitals and funeral homes.

Medtronic Inc. (MDT) said it already adheres to many of the practices recommended by the Heart Rhythm Society in its draft report on the performance and guidelines for pacemakers and implanted defibrillators.
 
Adding to comments it made in late April, when the draft report was released, the Minneapolis medical devices company said it has already begun taking steps to implement other initiatives recommended in the draft report, written by the physicians' and advocacy group and open for public comment until May 30.
