Medtronic begins study on new ICD device
Medtronic Inc. said Tuesday it has launched a clinical trial for a new heart-failure device that would allow patients to transmit their heart information to physicians from home.
The study of 850 patients in about 75 sites across the United States involves traditional implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) devices, which stores normal heart rhythm after it detects dangerously fast heartbeats, with a new real-time tracking of heart pressure and rate, body temperature and patient activity.
