Use Caution With Baxter Colleague Infusion Pumps

FDA warns Baxter pump customers

WASHINGTON -- Baxter International Inc. infusion pump users should take more precautions than suggested by the company when using its infusion pumps, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.
 
Users of Baxter's Colleague line of infusion pumps, which monitor the flow of medications administered intravenously, should have a back-up pump available in case the Baxter pump stops working, and should consider alternatives if it uses only Baxter pumps, the FDA said on its Web site
