Mistaken Diagnosis Trial Underway in Mississippi

A trial is underway in Mississippi over the alleged misdiagnosis of cancer.  
 
A 66 year old woman was mistakenly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and died in a hospice of an overdose of pain medication. However an autopsy subsequently revealed she did not have cancer. 
 
Plaintiffs allege the defendants, including the hospice, are responsible for the misdiagnosis and death.


Trial of lawsuit alleging misdiagnosis of 66-year-old woman starts

Testimony began today in a lawsuit alleging a mother was misdiagnosed as having pancreatic cancer before she died at age 66.
 
An autopsy showed Ersel Allen did not have cancer, and a toxicology report indicated she died of an overdose of the pain medication Diluadid, state pathologist Steven Hayne testified in Hinds County Circuit Court
