Risks of weight loss surgery rise with age
The rate of complications from gastric bypass surgery can be expected to rise with the age of the patient, beginning at age 60, a new report reveals.
In this particular study, 10% of patients had major complications and 13% had minor ones; almost 1% died.
Type of surgery performed was also significant.
This emphasizes the need to carefully evaluate surgical risks against the health rewards
