Illinois Nursing Homes Fined for Negligence

At a glance:

The State of Illinois has fined two nursing homes for negligence in regard to patient deaths.  
 
The ARC of Jacksonville Ltd. was fined $50,000 for failure to monitor a mentally ill patient who refused food and medication. Doctors were not informed until she was brought to hospital and died there. 
 
Heritage Manor South-Beardstown was fined $20,000 for not giving accurate information about a diabetic patient's blood glucose. This patient died in hospital as well. 
 
The homes are disputing the fines.


Officials fault nursing home in Jacksonville for death

A Jacksonville nursing home staff's failure to intervene in a schizophrenic patient's declining condition resulted in the 64-year-old woman's death in December, state health officials said Thursday.
 
The negligence justified a $50,000 fine against The ARC of Jacksonville Ltd., according to the Illinois Department
