Nursing Home Suit in the Works in North Carolina

A wrongful death lawsuit is planned against a nursing home in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a 66 year old woman with Alzheimer's Disease became locked in a closet for four days, and subsequently died of dehydration and pneumonia. 
 
She was reported missing on January 23 by the Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, but was only discovered on January 27. 
 
Although the autopsy declared the death accidental, the woman's daughter is pressing criminal and civil charges. 
 


Daughter plans to sue nursing home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mary Hicks Cole, the woman who spent four days locked inside a storage closet at an east Charlotte nursing home, died of dehydration and pneumonia due to isolation, according to an autopsy report.
 
The report was released to the public Monday, nearly four months after her death.
