A Massachusetts woman was awarded $3.5 million by a jury in a lawsuit against a plastic surgeon. The plaintiff claimed the surgeon botched her breast reduction surgery, resulting in loss of blood flow to her breasts, which ultimately had to be removed. 
 
The surgeon was found to be negligent in performing the operation and in not sufficiently informing the patient about the risks involved.

An Essex jury awarded $3.5 million yesterday to a Newburyport woman who had to have her breasts removed after a failed breast-reduction operation.
 
Dr. Michele T. Sasmor , a plastic surgeon from Newburyport, was negligent in botching a 2002 operation and failing to provide the victim, Celine Vincent , with sufficient information about the risks, the jury found at Superior Court in Lawrence
