Class Action Suit Filed Against Kaiser Permanente

A class action lawsuit has been filed in California against HMO Kaiser Permanente, in regard to their kidney transplant program. 
 
The program, which began in 2004, required Kaiser patients to switch from their existing programs, and allegations are that mismanagement caused delays in the form of longer waiting periods for transplants. 
 
Further allegations state that the company was negligent and unresponsive to patients' needs.


Kidney patients file class-action suit against Kaiser

A class-action lawsuit was filed Monday against Kaiser Permanente on behalf of patients in the HMO's troubled kidney transplant program, which shut down last month amid federal and state investigations.
 
The complaint, filed in San Francisco Superior Court, accuses Kaiser of fraud, negligence and mismanagement in its ability to properly administer the kidney transplant program, which included 2,000 patients in Northern California.
