VeriSign Sued over SSL Certificates

At a glance:

A class action suit against the internet registrar VeriSign has been approved in California. 
 
VeriSign allegedly engaged in deceptive business practices including false advertising regarding the sale of certain SSL certificates. 
 
The company was selling 128 bit encryption according to the allegation, when all browsers have used that encryption by default since 2000. 
 
Four hundred thousand plaintiffs are seeking $500 each in damages.

A California Superior Court judge has given the green light to a class action suit against VeriSign regarding the registrar's SSL security certificates.
