Tacoma Settles for $3.28 Million from Enron

The City of Tacoma Washington will benefit from a $3.28 million settlement with the Enron estate, to resolve claims it manipulated energy markets in the western US between 1997 and 2003. 
 
Fraudulent Enron activity resulted in excess energy charges for consumers, according to utility companies.

Enron to Pay City $3.28M Over Lawsuit

WASHINGTON — Bankrupt Enron Corp. has agreed to pay the city of Tacoma, Wash., $3.28 million to resolve claims it profited illegally by manipulating Western energy markets between 1997 and 2003.
 
The terms of the refund settlement were outlined in an agreement the parties filed with the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission late Monday
