Insurance Companies to Refund Policyholders in Florida

Two insurance companies have agreed to refund over $2 million to clients in Florida after a state investigation. 
 
Complaints about claim denial and coverage cancellation sparked a probe which uncovered these violations on the part of the American Mercury Insurance Co. and Mercury Insurance Co. of Florida.

Insurers to refund policyholders more than $2M

American Mercury Insurance Co. and Mercury Insurance Co. of Florida agreed to refund more than $2 million to Florida policyholders.
 
The Office of Insurance Regulation said it initiated its examination of the two companies based on consumer complaints referred by the Department of Financial Services. The office found the companies improperly canceled coverage and denied claims.
