Settlements Outside of Class Action Should be Disclosed

Citizens Property Insurance in Florida has been ordered to disclose the terms of settlements it has been making with litigants outside of a class action suit that is ongoing. 
 
The company is fighting portions of claims relating to the hurricanes of 2004, but has begun quietly settling with individual policyholders.

TALLAHASSEE -- A circuit judge Thursday ordered Citizens Property Insurance to disclose the terms of 2004 hurricane cases it is quietly settling outside of a class action suit.
 
Leon County Circuit Judge Terry Lewis objected to taking any action that might prevent Escambia County judges from doing whatever they could to expedite the scores of homeowner lawsuits against Citizens
