Man Potentially Blaming Prozac Side Effects for Killing of Twin Daughters

A Charlotte man, being tried in the deaths of his twin five year old daughters was taking Prozac at the time of their death and will possibly use Prozac side effects as part of his defense. Recently, in February of 2006 the FDA recommended that Prozac and other medications routinely prescribed to children for depression or treatment of ADHD carry black box warning labels alerting parents and those taking the drug of the potential of "increased suicidal thinking and behavior." Although the warning for adults is less serious, the FDA is reviewing this policy and is considering whether or not to incorporate a black label warning about the same type of suicidal behavior in adults taking the drug.
