TAP Overcharge Settlement

The State of Wisconsin has received a settlement of nearly $800,000 as the result of a lawsuit against TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc, the makers of the anti-cancer drug Lupron. 
 
TAP was found to have inflated prices for the drug, thus defrauding Medicare and Medicaid, other insurers and patients who pay portions of the cost. 
 
Some criminal charges have also been filed. 
 
Wisconsin will forward the settlement to 48 charitable organizations in the state.


Suit to benefit Clinic

MONROE -- Monroe Clinic Hospice is one of 48 Wisconsin organizations that are part of a settlement announced Thursday with TAP Pharmaceutical Products, Inc., producers of Lupron.
 
Hospice will receive $10,000 of the $798,000 settlement reached by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. TAP practiced fraudulent marketing which included improperly influencing doctors to prescribe the high-priced prostate cancer drug.
