The first Vioxx trial to take place in California is at the jury-selection phase. The plaintiff, Stewart Grossberg, claims his heart attack at age 66 was brought on by Vioxx, which he had taken for more than two years at that time. 
 
This case was originally set to be tried alongside that of Rudolph Arrigale, who had a heart attack after only five months of Vioxx use, but that case was postponed.

State Vioxx trial begins to pick jury

LOS ANGELES - Jury selection began Wednesday in a lawsuit by a California man who claims he suffered a heart attack after taking the painkiller Vioxx - one of more than 13,000 such claims brought against drug maker Merck & Co. nationwide.
 
The Southern California man, Stewart Grossberg, claims he took Vioxx for more than two years before he had a heart attack at 66.
