Hormonal Birth Control Linked to Migraine Recurrence

A study of migraine headaches in women suggests that hormonal birth control measures, such as the pill or the transdermal patch, may lead to more headache recurrances for migraines related to the menstrual cycle. 
 
While the study is still in preliminary stages, the researcher thinks women in this group may benefit from treatment with tryptans and NSAIDs to reduce recurrence of migraines.

LOS ANGELES, June 30 — Migraine related to menstruation may be exacerbated by hormonal birth control measures, with more use of analgesics and more recurrences, researchers said here.
 
"Women taking birth control could potentially benefit from taking a combination of triptans and NSAIDs to reduce migraine recurrence," said Brenda Pinkerman, Ph.D., a psychology resident at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, in an oral presentation at the American Headache Society meeting.

I used the Othro Evra Patch. I had complication blood clots migraines I'm still suffering with migraines. Dd the patch cause it help....
