Merck CEO Comments on New Cervical Cancer Vaccine

At a glance:

Merck is optimistic about its new cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil. The vaccine was approved by the FDA last week. It is the first of its kind, although GlaxoSmithKline has one in development.

Merck's CEO stated, at a health care conference, that Merck is reducing costs by outsourcing drug manufacturing to countries such as India, where they use facilities that are FDA approved but much cheaper to operate.
