Lipitor suits create 'undue concern': Pfizer
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Lawsuits claiming that Lipitor, Pfizer Inc.'s best-selling cholesterol drug, caused memory loss and pain in two patients may have "created undue concern," the pharmaceutical giant said Friday.
The New York-based company put forth a response to the suits, which were publicized Thursday, from two East Coast men, one of whom claimed the drug - the world's top-selling medication, with sales for 2006 expected to exceed $13 billion -- "ruined" his life and forced him to walk with a cane.
