Birth Control Hormones Can do Away With Periods Entirely

Every month like clockwork, Sarah Hull knew she'd miss days of school and work thanks to a most unwelcome visitor -- her menstrual period. It has been so bad that since age 15, she has had to use hormonal birth control, trying every pill, injection and patch on the market to help manage the unbearable pain.
 
But for the past year, she has been using an Ortho Evra patch, taking the hormones continuously for three months. That allows her to have just four periods a year instead of 12 or 13. While her periods are still rough, she says they've gotten more tolerable since she started acupuncture treatments.
