Indicted Law Firm Fired from Baycol Class Action Suit

The lead plaintiff in a class action suit against Bayer is replacing the law firm handling the case because of legal action against the law firm itself. 
 
Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman was recently indicted for alleged wrongdoing involving other clients' lawsuits. 
 
The Bayer suit involves the drug Baycol, a cholesterol-lowering medication that was withdrawn from the market following at least 100 deaths. The plaintiff in this suit is the trustee of New York's public employee pension fund, who claims the fund lost $22 million as a result of the Baycol scandal.


Hevesi fires firm in Bayer class action

New York Comptroller Alan Hevesi, sole trustee of the New York's $140 billion public employee pension fund, announced that he will replace the law firm of Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman as lead counsel in the Bayer AG class action litigation.
 
He will also take the firm off the state's list of law firms eligible to serve as the pension fund's counsel in future lawsuits
