Study on Prevention of Type II Diabetes in Children

One thousand middle school children in New York City are set to take part in a study to determine whether type II diabetes can be prevented in their age group by instruction on fitness and healthy eating.

A $5 million grant from the Starr Foundation will be used to test whether fitness activities and lessons in healthy eating can prevent Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, medical experts announced Tuesday.
