Gene Therapy Research for Juvenile Diabetes Successful in Rats

Baylor University researchers have succeeded in delivering human insulin genes into the pancreas of rats, with the effect of lowering the animal's blood sugar. 
 
The technique involves encasing the genes in microbubbles, which are burst with ultrasound when they reach the pancreas.
