Parkinson's Disease Drug to be Tested in New Zealand

At a glance:

A new drug is about to begin human testing in New Zealand on patients with Parkinson's Disease. The drug, Mito Q, attempts to address the actual disease mechanism, not just the symptoms. It is designed to stop the process of oxidation in brain cells which causes the damage, theoretically preventing or at least slowing further damage. 
 
If the drug is successful it might have applications in other brain conditions such as Alzheimer's and Huntingdon's Diseases.

New Zealand is at the cutting edge of what could be a breakthrough in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
 

 
Patients here will be the first in the world to take part in clinical trials of a locally developed drug aimed at treating the disease, not just its symptoms.
