NYC Police Union Tracking Illnesses After 9/11

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, a police union in New York, has begun its own online registry in order to keep a record of illnesses that develop in its members who were exposed to Ground Zero after the attacks of 9/11. 
 
Diseases such as cancer, kidney failure, and heart attacks may be entered by the membership. Meetings are also being held to discuss the health consequences of inhaling dust from the rubble. 
 
A class action lawsuit has been filed against the EPA for allegedly misleading the workers about the level of toxicity they encountered.


PBA To Start Its Own WTC Medical Registry To Track 9/11 Illnesses

Concerned about lingering health issues, the police union has announced an initiative to track illnesses affecting those officers who worked at the Trade Center site following the attacks.
 
The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association announced Sunday that the union will post its own online registry. This move comes at a time of heightened attention about the effects of the toxic dust at the site.
