Hepatitis Outbreak Among Canadian Dialysis Patients

At a glance:

A hospital in Toronto, Canada faces a class action lawsuit as a result of hepatitis infections allegedly spread during dialysis procedures. 
 
Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C have both been found in dialysis patients from the Scarborough Hospital, and 400 have been contacted for testing. 
 
Unfortunately the lead plaintiff died only days after commencing the suit. Cause of his death is currently unknown. 
 


Lawsuit filed against Scarborough Hospital

A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the Scarborough Hospital on behalf of dialysis patients who may have been infected with Hepatitis B and C.
 
About 400 people who received dialysis treatment were notified on May 20 they were at risk of contracting the disease
