Mesothelioma Trial Against ExxonMobil to Proceed

The trial in a wrongful death lawsuit against ExxonMobil may resume with only 11 jurors, according to the Louisiana Supreme Court. 
 
The suit concerns the death of a worker whose job it was to chip asbestos off of pipes. James Terrance later died of mesothelioma, a lung cancer known to be caused by asbestos exposure. 
 
One of the original jurors had to be excused because of a heart problem.


Court: Wrongful death trial can resume with 11 jurors

The Louisiana Supreme Court has reversed a ruling of the 1st Circuit Court of Appeal and will allow a wrongful death trial against ExxonMobil to resume next week with 11 jurors, an attorney in the case said late Friday afternoon.
 
Baton Rouge attorney Lewis Unglesby said he thinks the trial could resume as soon as Tuesday
