Firestone tire line targeted for recall

PASADENA - A Pasadena-based law firm has filed its fifth petition for the recall of 30 million Firestone tires it claims are defective.
 
Lisoni & Lisoni, which filed the petition with the National Highway Traffic & Safety Administration, says the defects can result in "sudden, unexpected and usually catastrophic tread separation" or other failure as a result of the implementation of severe cost-cutting measures."
 
The action cites five deaths in 2005 alone that are "credited to the defective Firestone Steeltex tires."
